Research from Taiwan and Japan have shown that doing counter-intuitive exercises are more effective and safer than normal exercises. As we age, the risk of getting hurt when we exercise increases and thus, knowing how to do the opposite exercises is great for keeping ourselves physically active. In the following video, NHK Japan Gatten program goes through the exercises with experts and explain scientifically how it works.

This exercise is recommended for people of all ages with impaired motor skills. It is specifically good for those who are ageing, who lack exercise, stroke recovery, muscular entropy and those suffering from auto-immune issues such as ankylosing spondylitis, multiple sclerosis and neurodegenerative issues such as Parkinson's disease.

If you would like to learn more about how these exercises can help you, make an appointment with our therapist. The best thing about these exercises is that you do not need to have access to the gym and can do it as part of your daily activity.
