Please, think about this before you think about having kids

So, you are thinking, how nice would it be to have a child with the partner you love, but did you consider that autism, developmental delays, personality disorders and chronic pediatric issues like asthma and epilepsy are rising? If you and your partner desire to have children, you need to be responsible even before attempting to get pregnant to ensure that your child will turn out alright. Did you consider this when you wanted to have a child?

1. Remove all dental amalgams

The heavy metal, mercury makes up about 50% of the amalgam mixture. Research indicates that dental amalgam is the major source of inorganic mercury (Hg) exposure in the general population. Mercury vapor released from the dental amalgam is toxic to fetus and nursing baby. Mercury is known to cause birth defects, learning and developmental disorders. Studies have also proven that mercury can cause or contribute to autism.

2. Clear your body of heavy metal

Heavy metals like mercury, lead and cadmium are toxicants that are known to cross the placenta and accumulate in fetal tissues. Prenatal exposure to mercury and lead poses a health threat, particularly to the developing brain. Heavy metal in the parents especially the mother before conception can increase the chances of miscarriages, stillbirth and child born with birth defects.

3. Reduce exposure to environmental pollutants

If you are planning to have children. Do avoid living or being in an environment that contains pesticides, phthalates, polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), solvent, toxic waste, air pollutants and heavy metals. Common high environmental pollutant areas include roadsides and industrial and some agricultural areas that use a lot of chemical fertilizers.

4. Manage your hypertension and diabetes

If you have hypertension or high/low blood pressure, do stabilise your blood pressure before trying to conceive. Similarly, if you have diabetes, you will need to closely monitor your blood sugar levels and try to keep it within range for awhile before trying to conceive. At 360 Wellness Hub, we use a continuous blood glucose monitor to help soon-to-be mothers monitor their blood sugar in preparation for conception.

5. Avoid a viral infection

Parents especially mother's exposure to viruses such as rubella, measles, mumps polyomaviruses, cytomegalovirus, HPV, Covid-19 and influenza increase the risk of autism spectrum disorder and other developmental disorders in children. Infection during conception or pregnancy can trigger a maternal cytokine storm which can trigger inflammation in both mother and the baby.

6. Manage your thyroid

Maternal thyroid dysfunctionality increases the risk of ASD and gender dysphoria. Thus, for those who have thyroid issues, stablise these issues, consult an endocrinologists before planning to have the child.

The decision to start a family and to have children is one of the biggest decision that a couple will make in their lives. A sick child can be a burden to the young couple and this can lead to unhappiness, divorces and lifelong worries. Thus, before making the decision to bring a life into this world, parents need to ensure that their child have the best chance to lead a normal, happy and productive life. If you are planning to start a family, do book a session with our specialists to discuss how to neutralise the problems that we have mentioned above and more.
